The records series includes but is not limited to applications from attorneys for certification as a specialist in one of fourteen practice areas approved by the Tennessee Supreme Court. Also included are recommendations on qualifications of the applicant, proof of malpractice insurance, results of disciplinary background checks, information certification requirements of other jurisdictions, approvals and denials of certifications and general correspondence. On January 1, 2016, the specialization program ended. This record series created under the certification program are no longer active.
